FAQs:

Does your company have a safety training program?
All of our operations employees attend pre-season safety training. Professional conduct, traffic laws, fleet safety, vehicle inspection and use, hours of service and substance abuse are covered. Operators are tested on their equipment and participate in on-site inspection of their assigned properties. Most of our employees have been with us for many years, which helps to ensure a consistent level of safety and service for our clients.
How do you prevent damage to sidewalks, curbs and landscape?
We mark property edges, critical resources and other obstacles with snow stakes. We install a snow fence if sensitive vegetation touches parking lots, walks and roadways. We take care to use the correct products and equipment for each application. We minimize the amount of deicer and protect parking deck membranes by using rubber edged blades and power brooms. We control deicer bounce on sidewalks by installing guards on our walk-behind spreaders. We calibrate the width of the spread path and the amount of salt dispersed by our truck mounted spreaders. We outfit our snow plows with curb guards and bright colored blade guides to give our operators greater visibility to curbs and other obstacles.
Does your company have a drug and alcohol policy?
We have an obligation to our employees, clients and the general public to provide a safe work environment. Our substance abuse program strictly prohibits the use, sale, purchase, possession or presence in one’s system of prohibited substances, including alcohol. Employees are tested before employment and on a random basis thereafter. Employees receive a copy of our drug and alcohol policy when they are hired and as it is updated. Our policy meets or exceeds all U.S. Department of Transportation standards.
What records do you keep to assist with a slip and fall claim?
We document every winter event including weather reports from our meteorological services, the type of equipment used on each property and service start and stop times. We also record the type and amount of deicer and rock salt used. When we are notified of a slip and fall incident, we work closely with our client and our insurance carrier to compile all information needed to respond to the claim quickly.
